Bug Bounty Alert! Hack a Swiss E-Voting System

Get Paid to Hack the Swiss Government’s new electronic voting system

Test your hacking skills during the Swiss Federation Public Intrusion Test (PIT)! Yes, the Swiss government actually wants hackers to break into their new generation electronic voting system. And the best part is that if you are the first to submit a confirmed vulnerability, you will receive compensation based on the type and severity of the vulnerability. You can earn up to 50,000 francs (149,790 US) if you are able to manipulate the vote undetected. Hmm. This looks like a job for NMAP NSE (haha, just kidding)! Or am I?

Need to Know

The test runs for four weeks, which is the duration of a Swiss Federal vote, from February 25-March 24, 2019. Anyone can participate regardless of nationality, and and can register for the pentest at https://onlinevote-pit.ch.

The only gotcha is that there is no English version of their e-voting system. Swiss Post’s e-voting system is only available in the four national languages of Switzerland: German, French, Italian and Romansh. No need to despair though, some documentation will be provided in English to guide you through.

Sharpen Your Pentesting Skills

So, you want to participate in the bug bounty but you’re not sure your skills are up to snuff? Maybe you need a refresher course, or want to learn more advanced penetration testing skills focusing on exploitation or covering your tracks. I highly recommend O’Reilly Safari – they have an extensive collections of ebooks and Live Online hands on training to aid in preparing for the event. A particularly good reference book is the Hacker Playbook 3. You can grab a copy from Amazon for $19.95.
